Maritza Garcia is an artist, entrepreneur, educator, and advocate for her community. She is a founding board member and Vice-Chair of Tierras Indigenas CLT and a member of the AB-617 Portside Steering Committee. She was raised in Logan Heights, San Diego and is still a resident of the neighborhood. She has used her skills in crocheting to teach others the craft and created her own business selling her handmade items. Garcia is currently pursuing her degree in Child Development at San Diego City College and plans to create a program for children centered around the arts and mental health. She joined the Environmental Health Coalition in 2020 as a Promotora and learned how to advocate for her community. After two years of involvement and growth, she was promoted to Logan Policy Advocate, where she continues to fight for a better standard of life in her community.
