San Diego, CA – The Fleet Science Center

The Fleet Science Center is excited to announce the world premiere of Sea Otters: A Wild Family Adventure, opening in the Heikoff Giant Dome IMAX® Theater on Friday, November 21.

Directed by Paul Phelan, Sarah Beard, and Annabel Robinson, produced by Definition Studios, and distributed by K2 Studios, the film invites audiences into the hidden world of sea otters living on Vancouver Island’s wild west coast. Viewers will join Finn, the adorable sea otter pup, as he grows up in this “coming-of-age” adventure set in one of North America’s most beautiful and diverse ecosystems.

Using innovative filming techniques, this IMAX® film gives audiences unprecedented access to sea otters and showcases some of the cutest, cleverest, and most intimate otter behavior ever caught on camera.

“I first saw sea otters in 1995 while filming a series in Alaska,” says Producer and Director Sarah Beard. “It was not only the adorable way mothers kept their babies safe on their bellies, their exceptionally fluffy fur, expressive faces, playful antics, and iconic rafting techniques that stole my heart, but also learning of their incredible comeback story, having nearly become extinct, and the role they play in helping the ocean to flourish that inspired me to tell their story on the giant screen.”

One documentary film is included with a Fleet general admission ticket, offering visitors a complete and immersive experience with access to the exhibit galleries and the iconic Heikoff Giant Dome Theater. Tickets are available at the counter and at fleetscience.org/films/sea-otters-wild-family-adventure.
