Monica Delgadillo Hernandez was raised in San Ysidro and has been actively engaged in community building and social justice for over 15 years. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in Chicano studies and an interdisciplinary focus on social justice, cultural studies, and multimedia. In 2004, She began her professional career at Casa Familiar (Casa) as a Community Development Specialist. In 2007, Monica became Casa’s Arts & Culture Director and co-founder of The Front Arte y Cultura Gallery. Currently, she serves as Casa’s Development Officer. Monica is also an interdisciplinary artivist and cultural worker whose work has been informed by her upbringing along the US/Mexico border. Monica has also been appointed to serve as a Commissioner on the San Diego County Arts Commission, representing District 1, where she will serve for two years.
