Give the gift of experiences!
The Fleet Science Center continues to provide special experiences to connect people to science everywhere, including virtual events and in-person educational programs for kids. This holiday season, think outside the "gift box" and give entertaining and educational experiences as gifts. It's a great idea for friends, family, and loved ones! Here are a few suggestions:
Have the little ones enjoy a variety of fun and engaging activities from home or at the Fleet. Oh, and don't tell them, but they'll be learning a lot, too! Our in-person Winter STEM Camps are available for kids in grades 1–3, and Virtual Camps for kids in grades 2–4. Participation in Virtual Camps start at $25 and includes the prepackaged materials for hands-on fun with online instruction.
Children ages 3-5 can start their learning experiences and create excitement for science with Young Scientists. The 4-week program comes with prepackaged materials and weekly video check-ins. In the next session, preschoolers investigate bones, digestion and other amazing systems of the human body!
Educator Professional Development Workshops
The Fleet Science Center offers workshops and resources to K-8 teachers and informal educators to enhance and support online learning. With our Like A Scientist and Picture Book workshops, teachers will be able to highlight the science in every school subject—they'll be getting all the tools from us!
For the grown-up crowd, we have all kinds of virtual events, from The Sky Tonight astronomy talks that the entire family can enjoy to the upcoming Live Longer, Live Stronger Lecture Series—a special series exploring new frontiers in the science of healthy aging with researchers from the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute.
Donations in the name of your loved ones
It's a double gift! Not only will this gift show your loved ones that you care about their community, but your gift also helps kids and adults access science education and resources now, as well as ensure that the Fleet can emerge from this crisis successfully.
