Have you ever wondered how your favorite animated shows, movies, or video games are built? At The Science of Animation, a brand-new event presented by Immersive Enterprise Laboratories (IEL) with the Fleet Science Center, you can not only learn about every step of the animation process, but experience it yourself.

Ruby the cosmic science adventurer is here to lead you on an interactive journey through the real-time animation pipeline, where you can experiment with a range of techniques. From digital sculpting to texture scanning, the possibilities for what you can create are wide open. You can even watch your ideas come to life as animators build a world in real-time based on your creations!

Highlights:

  • Hands-on crafting stations for explorers of all ages to draw, sculpt, and create textures, then digitize them with tools like the HP Z Captis
  • Live performance capture with House of Moves and VICON
  • Virtual camera cinematography, where visitors can frame and record their own shots
  • Digital sculpting and texturing workflows using ZBrush and Adobe Substance 3D tools, feeding directly into Unreal Engine world building
  • A connected Fortnite experience where community creations flow into a live world build
  • The Fortnite lounge to relax, play, and join in on live Fortnite fun
