Parker Edison | Facilitator

Parker Edison is a multimedia artist and project manager at Meridien Arts. He’s currently known for hosting the KPBS audio documentary "Rap Diego," which explores the history of rap in San Diego through insightful interviews.

Ami Young | Panelist

Ami Young I am a creative/storyteller. I work on canvas using any available medium.  I gather thoughts from previous experiences and convey them visually. Through my travels and observations of life, I leave a footprint for future generations. 

Farmer, teacher, healer is my motto, and  I use the ground to energize my thoughts and teach that art can heal nations. I lead monthly art healing workshops with the Project New Village team at  Mt Hope Community Garden. I my journey, I have worked with art selection committees and taught youth summer art classes with VAPA SDUSD.

La Raza Webb | Panelist

As an entrepreneur, author, creative professional and community leader, La Raza leverages her artistry to confront limiting societal beliefs and connect sincerely with others.  She aims to use her self-determination to inspire and empower her community to be their own creative force. La Raza's commitment to community is exemplified in her role as Vice President and Co-founder of The Block Club, a community facility honoring Black Arts and Culture.

Gabrielle Wyrick | Panelist

Gabrielle Wyrick is the Chief Curator and Director of Audience Engagement at the New Children’s Museum, overseeing all exhibitions, education, and community engagement initiatives. She earned a BA in Art History from the University of California San Diego and an MA in Art History from Tufts University. Prior to her time at the New Children’s Museum, Wyrick was the Deputy Director of Learning and Engagement at the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Associate Director of Education at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, and the Education Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. From 2010-2018, Gabrielle served as the Project Director for the National Teen Convening, and in 2018 was named a museum educator of the year by the National Art Education Association. Gabrielle has led workshops, lectures, panels, and training sessions at institutions internationally ranging from MASS MoCA, The High Museum of Art in Atlanta, The Portland Art Museum in Maine, The Contemporary Austin, The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and the Henie Onstad Kunstsenter in Oslo, Norway. She is driven by the ways in which art and museums can impact individuals and communities in powerful, transformative ways.
