Accessibility Mornings at the Fleet!
Assistive Listening Devices
Special headsets are available for the hearing-impaired to enhance the Dome Theater experience. The headsets increase the intelligibility of theater presentations by enhancing the narration and dialogue and lowering music and sound effects. The headsets are available for use in the theater with any IMAX film or digital show (except for music-only presentations). Just ask for a complimentary headset at the Ticket Counter in the Entry Rotunda.
Captioned Screenings
The Fleet is pleased to offer a closed-captioning system in the Heikoff Dome Theater. Our new adjustable captioning devices allow visitors to see captions for their film by using a cupholder device that they can adjust within their view. When you purchase your Dome Theater ticket at the Ticket Counter, tell the guest services associate that you would like to use the closed-caption service. The service is complimentary, and the system is accessible in the upper seating area of the theater.
Ear Defenders
Ear defenders are available for use during your visit at the Fleet Science Center. Please inquire at the ticket counter or at the Heikoff Giant Dome Theater.
Wheelchairs
Inside the Heikoff Dome Theater, there are designated wheelchair areas. Several restrooms in the Fleet are fully accessible to wheelchairs. For complete privacy and assisted restroom use, please use the restrooms nearest the Main Exhibit Gallery entrance. For further information or for assistance with elevator access to the second floor, please contact a Fleet staff member.
Please note that there is a limited quantity of complimentary wheelchairs provided by the Fleet Science Center, subject to availability.
