Happy International Women’s Day

Today is International Women’s Day, and to celebrate, we’d like to introduce you to the amazing team of women who work here at the Fleet Science Center.

According to the National Science Foundation, women make up half of the total U.S. college-educated workforce, but only 29% of the science and engineering workforce. While there is a high concentration of women in the social sciences (62%), there are low numbers represented in engineering (15%) and computer and mathematical sciences (25%).

Here at the Fleet, women make up 62% of employees, with 72 women out of 117 total employees. Women also work in 16 out of the 17 total departments, including the all-female marketing department, the all-female special events department and the all-female human resources department.
