How far in advance do I submit my request?
Please submit your form at least three weeks prior to the dates you wish to reserve. For the best selection of dates and programs, we ask that you submit your form early in the school year. All reservation requests will be reviewed and processed in the order in which they are received.
Before submitting your Field Trip Reservation Request, please:

Be certain that your field trip has been approved by your school and/or district.

Secure transportation to and from the Fleet Science Center.

What information will I need to complete my request form?
Please be certain to include the following in your request form:

The name of your school.

The grade level your students are in.
-
How many students you would like to bring.

What type of educational program you would like to reserve. Please refer to the Field Trips and School Programs Guide to review the Fleet’s many offerings.

If you wish to reserve a school IMAX show, please include the title of the film and the viewing time you desire.

Please note that we have a 1:5 adult to student ratio for pupils in grades Pre-K-1, and 1:10 adult to student ratio for pupils in grades 2-12.

Extra adults who are not part of your free adult ratio are more than welcome to join your party at a rate of $10 each.

When will my reservation be confirmed?
In most cases, you will hear back from a Fleet representative within 72 hours of submitting your Field Trip Reservation Request form.
Please note the reply times can vary depending on the season. Our form reviews may exceed 72 hours during our peak season (March through June), but we will do our best to reply as promptly as possible.

What dates can I bring my class for a field trip to the Fleet?

Field trips at The Fleet are available Monday through Friday, except for Resident’s Free Tuesday, which is the first Tuesday of every month.

Visits on Resident’s Free Tuesdays do not require a reservation. School groups are admitted on a first come, first served basis.

How much does it cost?
Prices vary based on the type of field trip. Below you will find our most popular options. Please refer to our Field Trips and School Programs Guide for more information.

For an exhibits-only field trip (NO IMAX), the cost is $7 per student.

For an IMAX and exhibits field trip, the cost is $8 per student.

Our 60-minute workshops at the Fleet are $210 each for up to 25 students and 6 adults per workshop, one of whom must be a teacher.

Our 90-minute workshops at the Fleet are $310 for up to 25 students and 6 adults, one of whom must be a teacher.
Please note that membership benefits cannot be applied to Field Trip costs.

Do you offer funding for Title 1 schools?

Yes, we offer financial aid to Title 1 schools. Please fill out an application for Access Science (our financial aid program) to apply for funding. Apply Here.

In order to be eligible for financial aid, you must fill out the Access Science application prior to completing a Field Trip Reservation Request form.
