Effective Upon Building Reopening for Admission
We're excited to reopen the Fleet Science Center building and to safely welcome you, your family and loved ones to explore our exhibit galleries and IMAX® films. Guided by the recommendations of state, city and county public health officials, as well as input from our employees and members, we developed a comprehensive plan to welcome employees, volunteers and visitors safely into the building. We'll monitor the efficacy of these guidelines in real-time and make further adjustments as needed.
Top Things You Should Know
The Fleet will monitor the efficacy of these guidelines in real-time and make further adjustments as needed:
  • All visitors ages 2 and up, employees and volunteers are required to wear a mask or face covering and to practice physical distancing while in the building, regardless of vaccination status.
  • Increased frequency of sanitization with our hospital-grade Protexus Electrostatic Disinfecting Sprayers throughout the day. High-traffic areas will close for 10 minutes to allow for a deep clean.
  • The Heikoff Giant Dome Theater will be open with reduced capacity. Every other row will be blocked off and require three empty seats in between people in different households.
  • Kid City will be open for our 5 and under friends with additional cleanings hourly throughout the day. Sanitizing stations and bins for small used items have been installed.
  • Some exhibits may be set up in different areas to provide more space for exploration.
  • In order to reduce time standing in line, online ticket purchases are encouraged.  Purchase your tickets here!
  • The Craveology Café and North Star Science Store processes have been updated in compliance with County public health restaurant and retail guidelines.

We have enhanced all of our cleaning and operation procedures to protect the safety of our employees, volunteers and visitors. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the CDC, senior citizens and visitors with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By visiting the Fleet Science Center, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. If you do not adhere to the guidelines, we will ask you to leave without a refund.

Screening Protocol

  • Non-invasive, non-contact temperature and wellness checks for volunteers and employees.
  • All visitors, volunteers and employees, age 2 and above, will be required to properly wear a face covering to enter, regardless of vaccination status. If visitors do not have facial coverings, we will provide one.
  • Gloves for adults and kids can be provided if asked.
  • All visitors must adhere to physical distancing guidelines.
  • All sick visitors or those who have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 symptoms in the past 14 days must stay at home.
Physical Distancing
The physical distancing of a minimum of six-feet must be maintained:
  • Between employees, volunteers and the general public.
  • Between employee workstations, counters, aisles, etc.
  • For all activities, including queueing lines (outside, inside, theater lobby), ticket counter, cash stations, restrooms (when possible) and hand wash stations.
  • Center doors in front of the fountain will serve as the main visitor entrance, with an employee present, ensuring all guests have face coverings and directing them to either Ticket Counter to purchase tickets or scanner if the ticket was purchased online.
  • The main entrance queue will be outside the building with markers identifying 6’ distancing. The line will form on the sidewalk on Park Boulevard, adjacent to the building.
  • The Craveology Café queue is in front of the Café.
  • Guests are encouraged to purchase on-line tickets to avoid physical interaction.
