Weekend Science Clubs

Hands-On Workshops for Kids in Grades 5-8

The Fleet Science Center offers Science Clubs for grades 5-8! Each session will be filled with new challenges, hands-on activities that can done using materials found in your home and has challenges for students of all ages. Through this program students will explore an array of fields including biology, chemistry, engineering, environmental science, physics, robotics and much more!

Icy Explorations  

Sunday, September 11, 2022 
10 a.m. to 12 p.m. is open to girls only. 
1 p.m. to 3 p.m. is open to all scientists. 

Join us as we turn down the thermostat and transform our classroom into a place for icy investigations.  Explore ice properties, examine how frost forms and how other substances can be used to mimic the properties of ice! 

October - Magic for Muggles   

Sunday, October 9
10 a.m. to 12 p.m. is open to girls only. 
1 p.m. to 3 p.m. is open to all scientists. 

Use science to reproduce the magic of your favorite wizards from books and movies. Conjure up a list of science spells that are worthy of any Hogwarts apprentice. You won’t believe your eyes! 

November - Genetic Journey   

Sunday, November 13
10 a.m. to 12 p.m. is open to girls only. 
1 p.m. to 3 p.m. is open to all scientists. 

Journey to the center of your cells to find out what makes you, you! Make delicious double-helix models, find out if you’re a supertaster and extract strands of DNA from fruit. 

Candy Chemistry   

Sunday, December 11 
10 a.m. to 12 p.m. is open to girls only. 
1 p.m. to 3 p.m. is open to all scientists.  

If you have a sweet tooth for confectionery concoctions, candy chemistry is the place to be!  Discover the chemical compounds that make up your favorite sugary treat and perform plenty of sucrose experiments.


Looking for something for younger children?

For young children ages 3-5, we offer Young Scientists workshops for you and your little scientist.

For students in grades 1-4, we offer our Junior Science Clubs.
