Fleet Astronomy Adventures 

Looking for something exciting, fun and educational for your student during the Thanksgiving holiday? We have in-person and virtual Fall Camps that are designed to create a variety of fun, hands-on experiences for students in grades 1–3.

At the Fleet Science Center, we love to have hands-on experiences for all of our students in an environment that is positive, fun, and safe. Our in-person camps provide a space where students can have hands on learning alongside other students.

Astronomy Adventure

Monday November 23
Use models to uncover the differences between the planets and replicate some of the tools that scientists use to understand the mysteries of our solar system.

Mars Explorer

Tuesday November 24
Build a Mars rover and create a Mars city while learning about the history of space exploration to Mars and determine how we might one day live on the red planet.

Rocket Science

Wednesday November 25
Get ready for some high-flying fun! Spend the day discovering the principles of flight by building gliders and designing your own rocket that will be launched into the air.

Virtual Camps

Camps from the comfort of your own home! Every one-hour virtual camp will be filled with challenges, hands-on activities that can be done using materials found in your home and has challenges aimed for students in grades 2–4. Sign up for one or bundle a week together and save!

Each Virtual Program includes:

  • Prepackaged materials ranging from craft supplies to specialty items packed by our Science Educators. 
  • Additional Educational content and challenges
  • Video content that introduces the challenge and provides strategies for caregivers in confidently facilitating these activities. Designated live virtual weekly meetings with a Fleet Science Educator to keep everyone connected, share results and ask questions.

Stellar Solar System

Monday November 23; 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Discover the distance between the planets and explore the formation of constellations in the night sky.

Amazing Astronauts

Tuesday November 24; 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
What does it take to survive in space? Learn about the tools and protective equipment that astronauts use while they live in space

Virtual Rocket Science

Wednesday November 25; 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Ready to blast off? Learn about the principles of flight by building rockets and probes to study distant planets.

Materials Pick Up

Curbside pick-up for camp materials will be available on Friday November 20 at the Fleet Science Center from 9:30-10:00a.m. and 3:00-3:30p.m. Pick-up will be located at the Business Entrance on the south side of the building, adjacent to the parking lot. To get to the South entrance from Park Boulevard, turn on Space Theater Way and make an immediate right into the parking lot adjacent to the building. The Fleet Science Center is located at 1875 El Prado, San Diego, CA 92101.
